Communally Communally

Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2, 2026

Plain English: Communally connects neighbors for local jobs. We don't supervise the jobs themselves — that's between you and the other person. Be honest, be safe, treat each other well, and follow the law. If you don't, we can suspend your account.

1. What Communally is (and isn't)

Communally is a platform that connects local job seekers (15+) with hirers (18+) so they can arrange and complete work together — gardening, tutoring, pet care, moving, and similar. We are not your employer, not the employer of anyone you meet through the app, and we don't supervise jobs. You're responsible for the people you meet, the work you agree to do, and your own safety. Always use good judgment, and call emergency services (911) if something goes wrong.

3. Your account

You're responsible for everything that happens on your account. Use a strong sign-in method (Sign in with Apple or Google), don't share access, and tell us right away if you suspect someone else got in. Communally accounts are personal — don't transfer or sell them.

4. What you post

You retain ownership of the photos, descriptions, messages, and other content you post. By posting, you give Communally a non-exclusive license to display that content inside the app so it works as intended. You're responsible for what you post — make sure it's accurate, legal, and doesn't infringe anyone else's rights.

Don't post:

5. Jobs and payments

6. Safety

Communally provides safety tools (PIN-verified job start/end, optional evidence recording, emergency contacts, in-app reporting), but these don't replace good judgment. Meet in safe public places when reasonable, tell someone where you're going, and don't accept work that feels unsafe. If you're in danger, call 911 or your local emergency number first, then report inside the app.

7. Conduct

Don't use Communally to harass, threaten, defraud, stalk, or harm anyone. Don't try to circumvent the platform — for example, by paying or being paid outside the app to dodge our fees and protections. Don't impersonate other people. Don't reverse-engineer the app.

Violations can result in warnings, account suspension, or permanent ban. We may also report unlawful activity to authorities.

8. Termination

You can delete your account anytime: Profile → Delete Account. We can suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or behave in ways that put others at risk. Some data (payment records, consent records for minors, safety reports) is retained as required by law.

9. Disclaimers & limits

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee jobs will be available in your area, that any specific person will accept your job, or that any particular outcome will happen. To the maximum extent allowed by law, Communally's total liability for any claim arising from the app is limited to the platform fees you paid in the last 12 months.

10. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, unless your local consumer-protection law gives you a different right.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we'll update the date at the top and notify you in-app or by email before the changes take effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new Terms.
